Joey Stephen Durden

Joey Stephen Durden – Richmond, Virginia
Joey Stephen Durden, 53, of Richmond, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at his home in the arms of his loving wife, Christina. Joey was born in Savannah, Georgia, on October 31, 1960, and though he traveled the world, later settling in Virginia, he always called Savannah his home.
Joey graduated from Pathway Day School in 1977. He joined the United States Navy in 1981 and served his country from 1981 to 1985. He traveled around the world on the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier, during which time he met and fell in love with his wife. He later opened his own business, Quicksilver Transport & Delivery, which he thoroughly enjoyed up to his final day. Joey had a quick wit, loved cooking and food, and was happiest spending time with his family and his grandson.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Christina Mitchell Durden of Los Angeles, California; one daughter, Brittany Durden Jae Warren of Richmond, Virginia; and one grandson, Jaeden Ray Warren of Richmond, Virginia; his parents, David R. Durden and LaTrelle C. Durden of Savannah; one brother, Michael D. Durden of Savannah, Georgia; and three nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24th at 11:00 a.m., at Fox & Weeks Island Chapel, 4605 Highway 80 E, Savannah, GA 31410.
In lieu of flowers, you may contribute to the Alee Temple Morris Slotin Fund, P.O. Box 14147, Savannah, GA 31416, or a charity of your choice.
